Notre Dame des Canadiens Church

Located in Worcester, MA. Built in 1928, renovated in 1972, closed in 2008, demolished in 2018.

Fort Taber/Battery Milliken

Located in New Bedford, MA. A reinforced concrete, World War II 12-inch coastal gun battery. Constructed 1917-1921 and deactivated in 1946.

Oakland Mill ruins

Located in Burrillville, RI. Stone mill, built in 1850. It was burned and rebuilt in 1882, and there was another fire in 1977. It’s not clear when it closed.

Hoosac Tunnel

Located in Florida and North Adams, MA. 4.75 miles long. Work began in 1851, added as a Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 1975. Still in use.

Black Point Carriage House Ruins

Located in Narragansett, RI. The estate was built by the Davis family in 1895. The 21-room mansion was destroyed in a fire, but part of the carriage house remains.

Houghton Mansion

Located in North Adams, MA. Former home of Albert Charles Houghton and his family, and later used as a Masonic temple. Built in 1897 and closed to the public since 2017.

Rutland Prison Camp

Located in Rutland, MA. Built in 1903 to house minor offenders. tuberculosis hospital added in 1907, and abandoned in 1934.

Abandoned Deering Home

Located in Millbury, MA, owned by the eccentric and reclusive Martha B. Deering, who died in 1996. Fires destroyed each building: the caretaker’s quarters burned in 2000, the main house burned in 2002, and the barn burned in 2006. Photos taken in 2001.

Located in Kennebunkport, ME. The first and largest museum of mass transit vehicles, including trolley cars, rapid transit trains, Interurban cars, trolley buses, and motor buses. Opened in 1939 and still in operation.
